Written in 1981, Barnes' SECOND SYMPHONY was awarded the Neil A. Kjos
Memorial Award for Outstanding Band Literature in 1984. Commercially
recorded by the Tokyo Kosei Wind Orchestra and the Osaka Municipal
Symphonic Band, it has long been a mainstay in the Southern Music
Company rental catalog. In it's own way, it is just as dramatic and challenging as Barnes' THIRD SYMPHONY.
