Barnes has arranged a five movement work based on Tchaikovsky's Album

Commissioned by the United States Army Band to commemorate the
retirement of Col. L. Bryan Shelburne, Jr., TOCCATA FANTASTICA is a
short, exciting essay for winds and percussion based upon two
contrasting musical ideas. Barnes' skills applied to a familiar
baroque form, make for a challenging, energetic 'tour de force' for
the modern wind band.

This is a bright and cheery overture for school band which incorporates lots
of color and energy. It's brooding middle theme, with it's unconventional modulations
and rich scoring, set a dramatic contrast before the return of the first theme.
As always, Barnes has cross-cued all the exposed writing to allow for the best
possible performance by unconventional instrumentation.

The Anniversary Fanfare and Festival Fanfare are both commissioned works by the
Cleveland Youth Wind symphony and the Blair Honor Band Festival of Blair,
Nebraska, respectively. Southern in pleased to add another fine band composition
by composer Jay Gilbert to its catalog.

the 306th Field Artillery, requested a march for the regiment built on
an artillery song then known as "The Caisson Song."

by a civic committee of York, Pennsylvania for a local celebration which
had to be cancelled in the midst of World War I. Keith Brion helps to

Green Mountains. It is a light overture employing broad melodies
and a jazzy harmonic feel and is the result of a commission by the the
excellent Zushi High School Band of Kanagawa, Japan.

This is a work commissioned by the Russellville Arkansas High School Symphonic
Band directed by Travis Beard. It is a continuous set of variations in which
the tune itself is left more or less intact but presented with variations in
meter, rhythm, and harmony. The melody is passed among various soloists and
sections showcasing the instrumental colors of the band and, every now and then,
the interjection of a phrase of DIXIE by the piccolo.
