Tales Of A Traveler, Sousa/Rogers, Grade 5 (S732).

John Philip Sousa's suite for concert band Tales of a Traveler is a musical souvenir of the world tour taken by the Sousa Band in the years 1910-1911. The first movement is a portrait of a Bantu chieftain from the high plateaus of South Africa. The second movement was dedicated "to the Matrons and Maids of Australia" (referring to Australian wool and sheep herding industry). The final movement was written for (though not used) for the coronation of King George V of Great Britain. Second only to the suite The Last Days of Pompeii, Sousa programmed this more often that any of his other suites.
