60 MUSICAL STUDIES, BOOK 1 (1-30), DAVID L. KUEHN
This is excellent material for young students. With a range of El to d, these etudes present good musical material with no high-range demands. They foster development of tone and expression.

SOLOS

PRELUDE AND ALLEGRETTO, TELEMANN/CHIDESTER
A "must" piece for the better young players. Good music which requires some knowledge of baroque style, sub-division of the beat into eighth-notes and other skills within a range accessible to young players (Al to f).

ALLEGRETTO GRAZIOSO, A. VON KREISLER
A charming piece, well-suited to this level of development The range is C to f, but weaker players can play the last eight measures an octave lower.

ANDANTE AND ALLEGRO, TELEMANN/CHIDESI'ER
Another baroque transcription in two movements with a range of Gl to b. The technical demands are modest.

ALBORADA, GORDON GOODWIN
Alborada (Morning Song) is a pleasant contemporary piece in one movement. With a range of C sharp to f sharp it does not make great demands, but it does make the player read the music, and not assume the next note.

FIVE SONGS, BRAHMS/LITTLE
Five Songs (Lieder) by Brahms which challenge the tubist to play with a vocal style and expression. They work well on the BB flat (or CC) tuba, but the range would equally well fit the F tuba (F-b flat).
