METHODS

60 MUSICAL STUDIES, BOOK 2 (31-60), DAVID KUEHN
A continuation of Book 1, this is great for study of tone, style and legato (E flat to f sharp).

25 EARLY STUDIES, DAVID UBER
Most of the studies in this book will challenge average high school players. The range (G1 to c#) and technical demands make this book a good choice for tryouts, as well as study.

24 ARTISTIC STUDIES, FRANK WOODRUFF
Originally compiled as a tryout book, this is an excellent Introduction to advanced etudes by Blazhevich, Vasillev, Kopprasch and Bordogni (B flat to c sharp).

TUBETUDES, SAMUEL ADLER
A delightful collection consisting of 16 etudes of moderate difficulty. It introduces many contemporary techniques and also can be ueed to start on the F tuba (Fl to b flat).

SOLOS

RECITATIVE, SONG AND CHORUS, PURCELL/MORRIS
Written as three sections to be played without pause. The range of C to g and is very playable at this level.

TWO SONGS FROM "SEA PICTURES", ELGAR/FRIEDMAN
Again we have good material for developing a singing, legato style. These are also useful for the F tuba (C sharp to b flat).

SONATINA, DAVID UBER
This is an accessible work at this level, but is not to be taken too lightly. All three movements demand skill and musicianship (Ab1 to b flat).

VARIATIONS ON A THEME OF SCHUMANN, WILLIAM DAVIS
This humorous set of variations on "The Happy Farmer" is of moderate difficulty, but will challenge the tubist towards the end (G1 to g).

INTRODUCTION AND DANCE, BARAT/SMITH
A good adaptation of a famous trombone piece which works well on tuba (Cl to g).

SUMMER NOCTURNE, DAVID UBER
This is one of the most popular tuba pieces in the catalog. The range (Al to c') is broadening, but there are only eight measures where it might be a problem.
