METHODS

TUBETUDES, SAMUEL ADLER
A delightful collection consisting of 16 etudes of moderate difficulty. It introduces many contemporary techniques and also can be used to start on the F tuba (Fl to b flat).

30 STUDIES, DAVID UBER
Arranged in progressive order, these studies are well suited for use as tryout material. The range is B flat 2 to f, but only a few of the etudes use pitches lower than Fl or higher than c'.

20 SHORT ETUDES, DON HADDAD
This is great fun, but it is also a challenge! It is a good study book for high range (B flat 2 to e flat).

SOLOS

SONATA NO.1, MARCELLO/LITTLE/NELSON
In this fine recital piece, do not let the range (Gl to g) deceive you into thinking it is easy. It requires knowledge of baroque style, flexibility and good breath control. Be sure to have this and the next in your library.

SONATA NO.5, MARCELLO/LITTLE/NELSON
See Sonata No.1 (G1 to a).

TWO PIECES, DON HADDAD
Two short pieces in contrasting styles. Most of the music lies between F and f, but the total range is D flat to c'.

SONATA, THOMAS BEVERSDORF
The range (Fl to a) makes this work accessible to many good players who don't have the range to handle other works of this stature.

ADAGIO AND ALLEGRO, TELEMANN/FRIEDMAN
Two movements of the trumpet Concerto in D as arranged for tuba, range B flat l to c'. Your baroque style, technique and endurance will be tested.

CONCERT ETUDE, KROTOV/BLAZHEVICH/VOXMAN/BLOCK
A good and rewarding piece for advanced players (E flat 1 to e flat') which requires great flexibility.

SCHERZINO, DON HADDAD
This is a short piece which will work well as an encore (F to c').

CENTONE BUFFO CONCERTANTE, GERARD JAFFE
A challenging solo demanding good breath control, however the range is moderate (G1 to b flat).
